RN Supervisor Job Description

A. Qualifications of the RN Supervisor

1. A current Georgia RN license to practice nursing and render services in accordance with the provisions of the Georgia Registered Professional Nurse Practice Act, O.C.G.A. 43-26-1 et seq.
2. Experience working with medically fragile patients and experience in home health is preferred.
3. Knowledge of current methods of home management, the provision of skilled nursing/PSS care, the ability to supervise and coordinate the work of others, evaluate situations and make decisions, and communicate effectively with others.
4. Working knowledge of Rules and Regulations for Private Home Care Providers, Chapter 290-5-54.
5. Working knowledge of the policies and procedures of the GAPP.

B. Duties of the RN Supervisor

1. Monitor and supervise the care of members receiving services under a valid PA for GAPP services.
2. Review GAPP referrals, evaluate the member’s skilled needs during initial and follow-up visits, and assign appropriate staff to provide the required care.
3. Develop and revise the member care plan as needed, review care plans during each supervisory visit, and communicate all revisions to the appropriate staff.
4. Supervise Personal Care Support personnel who may be supervised by an LPN. The RN must co-sign and date the LPN supervisory visit within 10 business days.
5. Complete supervisory assessments, including observations of each Personal Care Support caregiver or LPN providing care to the GAPP member (see Section 905 for supervisory note requirements).
6. Arrange orientation for each Personal Care Support personnel or LPN assigned to provide care to a GAPP member.
7. Complete the monthly supervisory assessment.
